Dear PRAA Members,

Our number one priority is for these kids to have fun and be safe. Our association continues to grow and parking is becoming more of an issue at Hemby Bridge Elementary during our events. It is very important for the safety of all the children that you follow the parking guidelines.

Parking Guidelines

  • ALWAYS drive slow upon entering or leaving the parking lot.

  • When parking in the main lot at Hemby Bridge Elementary (where the buses usually park) please park appropriately close to the car next to you so we don't waste space.  The lines are designated for buses and can easily accomodate more vehicles.

  • No Parking on the playground

  • No parking in the drop off zone or between handicap designated spaces.

  • Please do not leave valuables in your car as PRAA and or Union County Public Schools are not responsible for any items reported stolen from your vehicles.

  • Please keep the parking lot clean. Many teams provide snacks after each game which is great, however we're finding may wrappers and drink containers left laying on the ground.

2015 Family Fees

Parents and Guardians,

As many of you know, the expenses we incur at PRAA to operate continue to grow. We are often asked about the $100 family registration fee that is in addition to the cost of the specific sport your child is playing.

The registration fee is due on a calendar year basis (January – December) and it helps to cover operating costs: field maintenance, gymnasium rental, services, utilities, insurance to name a few.

Many associations in our area actually charger higher, per sport fees, to their members in lieu of annual dues. We, the Board, are constantly assessing ways to lower costs to our members and welcome any suggestions you have.

As a 501c(3) organization PRAA attempts to do the best that we can for the children and families that participate in our sports in all areas to include being fiscally responsible.

Thank you in advance for your understanding!

Community Sponsorship Opportunities

Porter Ridge Athletic Association's ("PRAA") Ways & Means program was designed to work with our local business partners to offer mutually beneficial opportunities to support our youth sports programs. Our association currently includes over 1500 families in the western Union County areas from the Hemby Bridge, Indian Trail, Stallings, Lake Park, Monroe, and surrounding communities providing baseball, football, softball, soccer, basketball, and cheerleading to kids ages 4-16. We are a not for profit organization and comprise our administrative board, coaching staff, and support personnel of member volunteers to ensure the kids have a great experience learning, exercising, and socializing both individual and team participation skills, all while having fun!

The expenses we incur as an association include uniforms, equipment (sport and safety), field maintenance (10 total), UCPS gymnasium rental, player financial assistance, and much more. As our membership grows, so does the overhead with running an association as active as PRAA. Our program offers a range of sponsorship/donation options including promotional opportunities, direct marketing, and other ways to promote your company's products and services available in the vicinity.

The following options below are a few of several ways we work with our area sponsors to show your support of youth activities in the community:

$5000 – Platinum sponsorship – 4 large banners across our sports fields, sponsorship recognition via the PRAA website and member newsletter, event recognition showcasing community support, direct member communication opportunities, and much more!

$2500 – Gold sponsorship – 2 large banners located at our sports fields, sponsorship recognition via the PRAA website and member newsletter, event recognition showcasing your community support, and sport uniform logo options*

$1250 – Silver sponsorship – 1 banner located at our sports fields, sponsorship recognition via the PRAA website and member newsletter, and event recognition showcasing your community support.

$300 – Family Scholarship Sponsor – your contribution to supporting a family who may be experiencing a financial challenge limiting their child/children's ability to participate in our programs. Recognition includes PRAA website member newsletter, and direct recipient communication acknowledgement.

2014 Magnet Fundraiser

All Magnet Image

PRAA Members,

Recently, your coaches have handed out magnets to each player specific to the sport she/he is participating in which includes over $100 in coupons to local merchants we commonly visit every week. In addition to the coupons, there is also a car magnet which presses out along with a schedule reminder of our activity registration windows. Each player has been asked to sell two magnets to help support our 2014 Fall fundraiser initiatives allowing PRAA to continue its ability to improve the fields, upgrade equipment, and help offset the monthly expenses associated with running our association.

The asking price for each magnet is $20 which offers a great value for what is included. Please help our association grow by embracing this effort to its fullest. If you are in need of additional magnets, please feel free to ask your coach or contact me directly. Payment by check is preferred (made out to PRAA), however if cash is collected, please put this in an envelope with your child's name, team, and coach's name on the outside and return to your coach.

We thank everyone in advance for their continued support of our association and as always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.

Sincerely,
Fred Cox, Director Ways & Means

Fall/Winter 2014/2015 Basketball League

Assessments start next week on Sunday, November 2, 2014 - see below for details

PRAA in conjunction with DICKS Sporting Goods Youth Community Sports Program is pleased to once again offer instructional competitive basketball leagues for Boys and Girls ages 5 – 15 years old.

PRAA is excited to announce the start of a new Basketball Season. Last year PRAA Basketball had over 323 players on 37 Teams representing the Porter Ridge Athletic Association and surrounding communities. We are very excited and look forward to many of these players returning this year, and welcoming new players/ families this upcoming season to our Basketball Program. We look forward to a fun and competitive season with our Intra League teams, as well as teams from other Associations during our Inter League play. We sincerely hope every player enjoys learning about the game of Basketball and further develops their skills in this great sport. We want to THANK all the families/ players and sponsors for their continued support of our Basketball Program and all the other sports offered by the Porter Ridge Athletic Association.

We also want to take this opportunity to review some very important information/ dates regarding PRAA Basketball:

Managing over 323 players on 37 teams playing in multiple gym locations takes a tremendous amount of time and energy. Thank you to everyone involved. That includes our basketball commissioner, assistant commissioners, coaches, players, and especially parents. Without everyone's help there is no way we could pull this off. With this said we ask your patience and understanding when something doesn't go as smoothly as you would expect. PRAA is a volunteer based association and without everyone's hard work we would not be able to provide these exciting opportunities to our children.

We hope everyone has fun and we thank you again for your support of PRAA.
